Key Verse

Isaiah 60:1- Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you-rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of hte Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! (Amplified Version)

Cutting

What Does The Bible Say About Cutting?

I've been doing some research online about cutting and also in the Word of God AKA the Bible.  Some of what I found may astonish you or upset you, but please know that we only have your best interests at heart.  We only want to help you, but we don't want to sugarcoat this issue either.  I myself dealt with this as a teenager, so I know what each one of you are going through. I want you to know though, you are not alone in this.

So let's begin...

What Does The Bible Say About Cutting-

People in the Bible cut themselves in mourning over a loved one.

Leviticus 19:28

You shall not make ANY cuttings in your flesh for the dead nor print or tattoo ANY marks upon you; I am the Lord. (Ampilfied Version)

Right here it says in the Word of God (The Bible) NOT Minda says, but God says not to cut.  I watch this show "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman" Okay, I may be wierd...lol  but oh well I love the show.  Anyway, Clouddancing, an indian friend of Dr. Quinn and her husband, Sully, lost his wife, Snowbird and he cut himself in mourning over her.  According to the Bible, we aren't to do that. It's alright to mourn the loss of a loved one, but we must remember them as they were and know that they wouldn't want us to do that to ourselves. They would want us to live our lives and not harm ourselves over their deaths.  I lost my mom when I was a senior, as I've shared before.  And from experience, the pain doesn't completely go away when you lose someone you love, but if you remember all the good times you've had with that person, it becomes easier to move on in life.  My mom would've wanted me to. They would want you to. Instead of cutting yourself or doing something that you shouldn't, please, talk to someone.  We're here to listen to you, if you need to talk. Email us at arisetonewilfe@gmail.com for our number or include yours in the email. We would be more than happen to try and  help you.  If you attend church, talk to your pastor or someone you can trust.  If you don't, talk to a friend, or a relative in whom you know you can trust.

People in the Bible who were demon possessed cut themselves

Mark 5:5

Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always shrieking and screaming and beating and bruising and cutting himself with stones. (Amplifed Version)

Let me give you background on the scene here....Jesus was just coming out of the boat, where he met a man of an unclean spirit (demon possessed).  This man lived in the tombs and did all these things.  But Jesus happened to cross his path and he (the man possessed) KNEW Jesus...the demon KNEW Jesus.  And He KNEW what he was doing was WRONG.  And Jesus, we later read on, cast out the demon and the man was FREE!!!  Now I am NOT saying that when you cut you are demon possessed, NO!  But I believe, as I've read and studied upon this, preparing myself to bring this forth, that it DOES open up the door for trouble.  I'll get more into that later.  So hang with me...

Today, self-mutilation (cutting) is rarely used for rituals (mourning) practices or actual demon possession, but instead usually done by teenagers and young adults who have misplaced anger or pain that they are attempting to work out in destructive ways.  Instead of dealing with emotional pain, some people would rather bring themselves physical pain, which actually serves as a relife from that stress, pain, or whatever they may be dealing with.  Unfortunately though, this sense of relief is only temporary and the desire to be self-destructive quickly returns.  In other words, they can't stop cutting..it becomes an addiction, just as bad as alcohol or drug addictions.

The Bible doesn't talk about self-mutilation in terms of anxiety or depression, but it is very important tha whoever is making a practice of this seeks immediate help.  This behavior seldom, but not always indicates or can lead to drug, alcohol abuse, eating disorders, identity disorders (such as bipolar), and suicidal thoughts or even attempts.

1 Corinthians 6:19

Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very santuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own. (Amplified Version)

Here we find, that God dwells in us.  His Spirit dwells in our bodies.  So we shouldn't do anything that He doesn't like with our bodies...such as cutting.  We were given our bodies as a GIFT from God to use for HIS Purpose, to bring glory to God from our bodies.  And cutting mars it and it doesn't bring glory to the Lord.  Instead of bringing glory to the Lord, it brings shame to His Name.  If you've done this in the past, or are presently doing it, and you feel it's wrong (which it is, the Bible says it, not me) then all you have to do is repent and ask God to help you.  And when you start to feel you need to cut, remind yourself, "Wait a minute....it's says in Your Word God that this is wrong!  I will NOT!  I refuse to do this anymore!  I'm relying on You, Lord for strength!  I'm focusing on You for comfort!  There's NO comfort in cutting at all!  Your Word says, In YOU will I find comfort and shelter!" (Found in various parts of the Bible, mainly Psalm)

Self-mutilation is the result of  an incorrect view of self and our personal value to God.  It says in God's Word, we are fearfully and wonderfully made...Psalm 139:14  God designed us, We're Perfect in His sight!  He made us just the way we are.  A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a proper understanding of His Love is the Only cure for self-mutilation (cutting).

Because the Bible is TRUTH and the TRUTH has the POWER to sett you FREE, it is the ONLY source to draw from. (John 8:32) and whom the Son sets FREE is FREE INDEED....not partially FREE, ALL THE WAY FREE (John 8:36)

In every instance that cutting is mentioned it is spoken of in a negative way.

So why is cutting wrong?

1. It's against God and EVERYTHING He stands for!

Our bodies were designed by God, who made it to be Whole and BEAUTIFUL....We were made in HIS image (Genesis 1:27)  When people cut, they dishonor God.  It is with our body that we are to serve and glorify the Lord. (1 Corinthians 9:19-20)

As Christians, we are to be motivated by God's standards that He has set for us.  Honoring God with our bodies is a sign that we accept Him.  As His children, we recognize our bodies belong to Him and tha we should desire to keep them Holy (set apart, separated or distinct) for HIs will for our lives.

Back in History, cutting was  major sign of ritual mourning.  It was also practiced in magic.  It was used as a way to gain control over people's emotions and thier gods tha hey looke to.  In other words, it was manipulation used for the purpose of getting thier own way.

How does cutting affect you?

Cutting attracts demons.  Because you're hurting, you open your heart to the pain and "release" your feelings when you cut.  This is very dangerous because you open yourself to the wrong spirit. How? It is like offering your feelings to an unseen force.  When cutting while calling out for help, the spirit realm is more than willing to answer, but will only bring you into further bondage. I had a friend who let this bring her to her death.  She grew up in a Christian home and had a supporting family but she was dealing with a lot of pain and struggling a lot. She felt she had no one to talk to, so she started to cut thinking it would help, but then she slipped into drugs and alcohol and it just made things worse for her.  She lost hope.  She lost her vision of God.  She quit going to church, she just quit everything.  One day she decided to end her life.  She was pregnant at the time with twins and she lost one baby.  They were able to save the other one.  But she was loosing a lot of blood and they couldn't save her. She was able to repent and talk to her pastor before her death.  Don't let the devil tell you that you have no worth or fill your head with lies. Don't bottle things up inside...talk to someone.  You have an enemy who wants to kill you, that's Satan. (John 10:10) But you also have a friend, who loves you.  His name is Jesus!  Psalm 139 says He knew you while you were in your mother's womb.  He KNEW you!  He's the One who wrote all the days of your life in a special book, which He has in HIs hands.  The things written there are His plans for your life.  The only requirement you need to know the plans He has for yoy is for you to ask Him to be your Lord and Savior and let Him lead and guide your footsteps.  Jesus died on the cross for you!  He LOVES you!  He's more than enough reason to stay alive!

John 15:13

No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends. (Amplified Version)

If you haven't recieved Christ into your life and would like to, just ask Him to come in and cleanse you from your sins and ask Him to be Lord of your life....and read your Bible.  If you don't have one and would like one, we will do our best to provide one for you.  If you would like to talk to someone about things, we're here for you.  Send us your number to arisetonewlife@gmail.com or arisetonewlife@yahoo.com and we will be glad to call you and give you our number as well.  We're here to support you in any way.

Find Comfort In God-ALONE

Find Comfort In God-ALONE

I know I've already posted a topic earlier, but I decided to post this one as well, seeing tomorrow we start on a new topic (cutting).  I hope that these messages on depression have helped someone along the way....

2 Corinthians 1:4

Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in EVERY trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and ecouraged) by God. (Amplifed Version)

Here at ARISE MINISTRIES, like I said in our last post, have gone through a lot in this life.  In fact, everyone has gone through a tough time at some point in our lives.  We were/are encouraged to encourage others.  We were/are comforted to comfort others.

How many of you feel that NO ONE cares about you?  How many of you are struggling with life?  Have you lost a loved one recently?  Are you batteling with depression?  Do you feel like you can't find that special someone or something to comfort you in times of need?? You may have tried loving someone to overcome things and its gotten you nothing but heartache....  Have you turned to drugs and alcohol to ease your pain?  That will NOT comfort you, it's only brings more trouble and more heartache in the end.  It's a temporary high and can eventually lead to trouble, health problems, and so much more.  You may thinking, then what do I do, Minda?  Where do I turn?  No one cares about me....no one takes the time to listen to me, no one loves me!!!! Well there is someone who does care about you, in fact He LOVES you!  Jesus Christ loved us so much that He died on a cross for us.  And of course, we care for you and I'm sure others do as well.  But even if your friends and family don't care, Jesus Christ does!  He is the ONLY One who can comfort us when we need it.

Maybe you've been hurt or mistreated?  Maybe you've been disappointed?  Maybe you're experiencing a change in your life, and it's hard to deal with?  Maybe you've failed in some way?  Maybe your just tired?  Whatever you may be facing, God wants to help you by comforting you when you need it.

For instance, going to share a personal story here, my Senior year, my mom passed away.  I was heartbroken.  I needed someone to comfort me, my family tried, but nothing they did comforted me.  I was about to give up completely, and I even said to myself, I'm not going to go to church anymore after tonight. When that night at church, I felt such a burning inside me to cry, I was drawn to the altar and I cried and cried and cried out to God.  It was like God put His loving arms all around me and comforted me.  I felt Him right there, right beside me holding me and telling me "Your mom's not in pain anymore.  Peace..."  From that night on I've turned to God for comfort.  Now I'm not saying that I didn't have trouble after that night, but God's helped me.  I've turned to men and women of God for advice and comfort but thier advice, encouragement, and comfort could never ever compare to God's!

The Holy Spirit is actually called the "COMFORTER" (John 14:26) He's a part of God.  He IS GOD!  NO confusion there, trust me....don't let that interfere or discourage you from reading any further.  GOD IS EVERYTHING WE NEED!   As a friend of mine says, "Enough said".  His various names describe His character.  He's willing to do a lot for us if we are willing to let Him.  We have to ask HIm, He promises to comfort us and so much more!

God will allow people to do only a certain amount for us.  Even those people who are extremely clost os u can't give us everything we need all the time.  When we expect others to do for us what only God can do, we have our expectations in the wrong place, and we will always be disappointed.

No comfort is as good as God's!  People can never give us what we really need unless God Himself uses other people to reach us, which He often does!  We here at ARISE MINISTRIES will help you in any way that we can, but I'm going to say this, We can only do so much, but GOD, on the other hand, can do OH SO MUCH MORE!!!! But if you need us to help you we are here for you, just email us and we'll be glad to give you numbers or you can give us yours and we'll be there for you in prayer and we will do what we can.... arisetonewlife@aol.com

Outlast The Devil

Outlast The Devil

Micah 7:7-8

But as for me, I will look to the Lord and confident in Him I will keep watch; I will wait with hope and expectancy for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.  Rejoice not against me, O my enemy!  When I fall, I shall ARISE; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light to me. (Amplified Version)

Your enemy, Satan may come against you, but when you fall, you will ARISE.  Make a decision to endure WHATEVER comes against you.  That literrally means you will outlast the Devil.  Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the worl.  (1 John 4:4)
You are more than a conqueror thorugh Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:37)

Even during times of intense trouble, believers should live with expectancy.  Expect God to work something good out of your situation, and expect Him to bless you even in the presence of your enemies. (Psalm 23:5)  In the midst of trouble, keep a POSITIVE attitude and talk about the POSSIBILITIES, NOT the problem.

Being POSITIVE is very important because it leads to progress or forward motion.  we can't go forward or overcome negative situations unless we choose to be POSITIVE.  there is something good in EVERYTHING that happens to us; we just need to look for it.  If you're stuck in traffic, for instance, and you're in a hurry, you may become frustrated or angry, but the delay may have cuased you to avoid being involved in an accident...This has happened to me and my family plenty of times growing up as well as me being married and having a family now.  Sometimes the things we go through is because God wants us to draw closer to Him and TRUST Him MORE.  Sometimes we go through things to help other people get through the same thing.  This again, is true...that's what has created ARISE MINISTRIES.... I, myself have gone through a lot in life, which I will be sharing later on, and I want to share with others that they are not alone, there are so many others going through depression, anxiety, and a whole list of other things.  I want to share with you all how and who got me through my tough times.  I will do that in another post.  For now, let's continue...

God hears us when we pray in FAITH.  Put your CONFIDENCE in Him and EXPECT something to change for the better, and KNOW that in the meantime, God will use whatever you are going through to help you be a better person in the end.  You can choose to let every trial you encounter make you bitter or better.  Trials and tribulations are a part of life, and the way we handle them reveals our level of spiritual maturity.  Be stable and don't let Satan intimidate you.  This will be a sign to him of his impending doom and destruction.  God has a good plan for your life, make a decision to NEVER give up.  Once you've made that decision, your Victory is sure.

As I close you may be thinking, this is hard to take in or you may be thinking...I get it!  I totally get it!  Either way, we are here to help you along, and as I've said in earlier posts, everything you say to us is in confidence, meaning, we don't go and spread it around.  We may ask our church to pray for you, but we never mention names, unless you ask us to.  If you would like to get in contact with us, you can email us at arisetonewlife@aol.com

     Pray this prayer with me,

"Lord, I will look to You!  Confident in the Lord, I will watch and wait patiently with hope and expectancy, for I KNOW that You will hear me.  When I fall LOrd, I will NOT stay there, down for the count, but instead, I will RISE!!!! And when the darkness closes in, You, My Lord will be my LIGHT!!!  In Jesus' Name. AMEN!"

Keep Your Balance

Keep Your Balance

1 Peter 5:6-8
Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you.  Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.  Be well balanced (temperate, sobor of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in feirce hunger], seeking somone to seize upon and devour.  (Amplified Version)

Maintaining balance in ALL things is very important!  If we don't, we open a door to Satan, who roams around to devour us.

In order to develop a balanced, healthy, God-centered self-image, incorporate the thoughts below into the way you think about yourself.  In fact, print them out or write them down.  I found this in my Bible by Joyce Meyer "The Everyday Life Bible" and I, myself try to read this everyday to remind myself that I am made in the Image of God and He loves me just the way I am!  I hope this helps at least one person.  I know it's helped me A LOT!!

1.  I KNOW God CREATED me and He LOVES me!

2. I have faults and weaknesses, and I WANT to change.  I BELIEVE God is WORKING on me, I can still ENJOY life and myself.

3. Everyone has faults, so I AM NOT A FAILURE just because I am not perfect.

4. I am GOING TO WORK WITH GOD to OVERCOME my weaknesses, but I REALIZE that I will ALWAYS have something to deal with; therefore, I will NOT become discouraged when GOD convicts me of areas of my life that need improvement.

5. I WANT to make people HAPPY and have them like me, but my sense of worth is NOT dependant upon what others think of me.  Jesus has already affirmed my value by His willingness to die for me!

6. I will NOT be controlled by what other people think, say or do.  Even if they totally reject me, I WILL SURVIVE!  God has promised never to reject me or condemn me as long as I KEEP BELIEVING. (John 6:29)

7. NO matter how often I fail, I will NOT GIVE UP because God is WITH me and HE SUSTAINS me.  He has PROMISED to NEVER leave me or forsake me. (Hebrews 13:5)

8. I LIKE myself.  I don't like everything that I do, and I WANT to CHANGE---but I REFUSE to reject myself.

9.  I AM RIGHT WITH GOD---THROUGH JESUS CHRIST!!!  I have TURNED my life over to Him and have SINCERELY AND HUMBLY repented of my sins and have accepted Him as Lord and Savior in my life.

10. God has a plan for my life. (Jeremiah 29:11).  I am GOING to fulfill my destiny that God has set for me and be all I can be for His glory alone.  I have God-given gifts and talents, and I intend to use them to glorify God alone and to help others.

11.  I am NOTHING, YET I AM EVERYTHING!!! In myself I am nothing, and yet in Jesus, I am everything I need to be!

We should maintain balance in our self-image as well as work and rest, eat a balanced diet, never spend more than we earn, and enjoy people but also have solitude.  Although we want to please people and have their approval, we must put God and His Will first in our lives at ALL times.

If we don't maintain balance in our lives, Satan will take advantage of the door we have opened.  Check your life and if you find areas that are out of balance, ask God to help you make whatever adjustments that need to be made.

And as always, if you need someone to help on this journey, we are here for you at Arise Ministries.  We love each and everyone of you who take the time to read these and even the ones that don't.  We want to reach others for Christ and help them turn their lives around.  You can contact us at arisetonewlife@aol.com and we will get back to you either by email or include your phone number in the email and we will gladly give you a call.  We will help in any way that we can.  May God bless you all today and this weekend.  We will be praying and believing that God moves in a mighty way in your lives.

God Bless,
Minda

Free From Shame---NOW GO WALK SHAMEFREE!!!

Isaiah 54:4- Fear NOT, for you shall NOT be ashamed; neither be confounded and depressed, for you shall not be put to shame. For you shall FORGET the shame of your youth, and you shall not [seriously] remember the reproach of your widowhood any more. (Amplified Version)

Are you rooted in shame???

Many people are "rooted" in shame.  This means that their shame is too deep that it functions as the root of a tree and it actually produces "fruit" in the form of unhealthy thoughts and behaviors.  If you are rooted in shame, you need to be aware that shame is very different from guilt.  Shame is a deeper problem than guilt is. We may feel guilty over something we have done wrong, but shame makes us feel bad about who we are.  There is also a difference between "nomral" shame and "rooted" shame.

For example, if you're in a restraunt and you knock over your glass of water or soda, you start to feel ashamed or embarrased because you made a mess in front of everyone.  That's normal.  But you usually adjust to the situation and move on.  You forget about what happened at the restraunt.  That incident doesn't mar or scar you for life, right?

In the Garden of Eden, after the fall, Adam and Eve were ashamed when they sinned and realized that they were naked, and so they made clothes from fig leaves to cover themselves.  But that too was a normal reaction.

When we make mistakes or commit sin, we feel bad for a while until we repent and are forgiven....when we repent, we must sincerely mean it and turn away from that sin and God is faithful and just to forgive us...

1 John 1:9- If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continually] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everythng not in conformity to HIs will in purpose, thought and action].  (Amplified Version)

Then that means, we must put our past where it belongs....in the past...not the present and the future...the past....When we truly repent, with a humble and sincere heart, God forgives us of that sin, and He does something a little more, He doesn't remember it!

Micah 7:18-19- Who is a God like You, Who forgives iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?  He retains not His anger forever, because He delights in mercy and loving-kindness.  He will again have compassion on us; He iwll subdue and tread underfoot our iniquities.  You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. (Amplified Version)

If God forgets our sin, and He doesn't remember it when we truly repent....why should we keep dragging it up????  Sometimes, we blame Satan, we give him too much credit really.  Most times it's us ourselves that brings it up.  We must focus our attention on God's forgiveness instead of what we've done....

When an individual is rooted in shame, it affects their entire life.  They have a bad attitude toward themselves and they poison everything that they try to accomplish. They feel doomed to failure and they have no confidence.

Jesus bore all our shame for us on the cross.  The curse and power of shame can be broken off through the power of God and Him sending His Son to die for that shame.  He took our shame and our blame on the cross.  He doesn't want us to go around carrying it anymore when He's already taken care of it!  We are FREE FROM SHAME!!!

God has promised that He will pour out a twofold blessing on our lives.  We will gain double what we feel we lost in our past.  For example, Job, in the Bible....lost everything he had, but in the end he recieved much more back than he had at the beginning.

We must take a stand upon God's Word!  We must become rooted and grounded in God----NOT in our shame of the things we've done or said, or had done or said to us in the past.  We must focus on God and know that He has a plan for our future!

Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. (Amplified Version)

We must  focus on God and know that He loves us!

God can heal our minds, hearts, hurts, etc.  All we have to do is ASK Him.  He sent His Son Jesus to die for us.  He came to heal the broken hearted, cleanse the sinner, and so much more!  God is our Father! He loves us!

My dad, is one of the most amazing men in my life.  I love him so much!  I'm so glad God sent him to be my dad....but anyway.  When I was younger, I would fall down a lot. I would scrape my knee, get a boo boo and my daddy would "make it all better".  Even when I would get myself into trouble, with loving hands, he would discipline me.  At the time, I felt he was totally "unfair".  But now that I'm an adult, I know that the things he did, he did because he loved me and it was for my good and to teach me things in life.  God's the same way.  What He does, He does in love for us.

You might be thinking, my dad NEVER care what I did.  He doesn't love me.  He may not have cared about you or loved you.  But there's ONE that has ALWAYS loved you!  He created you!  He's ALWAYS there for you!  He ALWAYS will be!

HE will turn your sorrow into joy.
Give you beauty for ashes.
Give you a garment of praise instead of heaviness.
Give you honor instead of Shame!
(you can find this in Isaiah 61:1-3)

We MUST DECLARE and be DETERMINED that we are going to reject the roots of bitterness, shame, negativism, and pefectionism, and instead nourish and grow the roots of joy, peace, love, and power!

By faith, draw the bloodline of Jesus Christ across your life and boldly DECLARE that you are HEALED from the pains and wounds of your past!  Declare you have beeen SET FREE from your past to live a new life of wealth and wholeness!  STOP blaming yourself and feeling guilty, unworthy, and unloved!  Instead say, "If God is FOR me, who can be against me?  God loves me, and I love myself.  Praise the Lord, I am FREE in Jesus' Name!"

If you haven't accepted Christ into your life yet, I want to give you the opportunity.  Pray this prayer and mean it from your heart:

"Dear Jesus,

I come to you right now, I confess all my sins to You.  I confess that You are Lord and that You died on the cross for all sin. I invite You to come into my life and reign in me and help me on this journey in life.  Help me be all that You created me to be.  I thank You Lord for loving me and accepting me as I am.  Now I'm asking You to help me become the person You want me to be and not who I want to be.  In Jesus' Name, AMEN!"

If you prayed that prayer, I would love to talk with you and help you on your journey...you can email me at arisetonewlife@aol.com

Now some of you may be struggling.  You've accepted Christ, but you still can't get where God wants you to be.  Just ask Him to help you.  He's there for you.  If you would like for me to pray with you, you too can email me at arisetonewlife@aol.com and I would be glad to pray and talk with you.  I don't like to give my phone number over FB so, just send me an email and I would be glad to call you or give you my number so you can me....

God Bless,
MaLinda (AKA Minda)
